Beypazarı


It is a county in the Central Anatolia, Ankara and located at the 100 km west of Ankara.
Beypazari which is one of the commander cavalryman centers having a great importance in the earth regime and the military system of the Ottoman Empire has been called as Beg Pazari due to the cavalryman in the district and the commercial, economical concentration.
Considering the historical progress of the Anatolia, it is observed that first Hitit, Frigya, Galat, Roman and Byzantine at the first era then Anatolian Selcuklu and Ottoman have ruled at the Beypazari County. Beypazari is located at the historical causeway which had a great importance as it was connecting Istanbul to Ankara and Baghdad at the Roman Era.  Its first name was Lagania which means “rock hill country” and it was the episcopacy center of the Byzantine Empire. The name of the city was changed as Lagania – Anastasiopolis (Anastasios City) due to the visit of the East Roman (Byzantşne) Emperor Anastasios who had ruled between the years of AD 491 and 518.
